NPR's The Splendid Table - The Splendid Tour
The Splendid Table, hosted by award-winning food writer Francis Lam, is an original weekly companion, celebrating the intersection of food and life for more than two decades. A culinary, culture and lifestyle program, it hosts our nation's conversations about cooking, sustainability and food culture and introduces us to generations of food dignitaries. Recently, they took their show on the road to celebrate their 30th anniversary, inviting Martha Hoover, founder of Cafe Patachou and the Patachou Foundation to chat live. Host Francis Lam talks to her about her start as a prosecutor turned restaurateur and how the restaurant scene has changed over her 35-plus years running a restaurant in Indianapolis.
“One of the reasons the restaurant worked so beautifully,” says Café Patachou founder Hoover, “is because we did have access to these incredible small farmers who were so excited that there was somebody in the restaurant world who was willing to buy from them directly.”
